Eight steps to happiness
the eightfold path in everyday life
Michael Verlouw
In addition to the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path is the central tenet of Buddhist psychology and indicates the path from 'stress and suffering' to 'freedom from stress and suffering'. The Eightfold Path is the path to true freedom.
Using eight steps, you will learn to make lasting changes in almost all aspects of your life. You will see in depth that it is possible to make choices that are beneficial and contribute to your happiness and that of others and you will learn to make those choices from a deep contact with your own values.
The training is based on the book 'Eight Mindful Steps to Happiness: Walking the Buddha's Path' by the Sri Lankan monk Bhante Henepola Gunaratana and on the lessons given by the American teacher Gil Fronsdal at the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood, California. The training thus unites Eastern and Western wisdom.
'Eight steps to happiness' is a live course/year group in Buddhist psychology of the eightfold path.
Together with a motivated group of like-minded people, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself for a year in this age-old Buddhist wisdom, which in 2024 has not lost any of its relevance, power and effectiveness.
This live course (of almost one year) is intended for anyone who wants to become acquainted with Buddhist psychology, deepen his/her meditation practice or become acquainted with a clear and accessible view of life. Once understood and integrated into your daily life, it provides a feeling of happiness and freedom, regardless of the circumstances.
This training can be followed separately, but also as a follow-up to the live course 'Dancing with Life'.
This is a 10 month live course.
We meet live online once a month, on Sunday mornings.
And there are three additional live online sessions (Q&A), on Thursday evenings, to keep the practice alive.
During the monthly live session on Sunday morning we meditate together, we exchange experiences, questions can be asked and you get a new topic to practice with.
Of course there will be an opportunity to contact the supervisor throughout the course; I'd love to guide you on your way!
