Introduction
The topic of climate change can evoke all sorts of reactions in us. We may feel resistance, guilt, or fear. How can Buddhist practices help us with this? Bhikkhu Anālayo offers tools to deal with this in a helpful and balanced way. These are brought together on this page.
He provides guided meditations, video lectures and texts to explore this topic in a clear and supportive way.
Below you will find four components that will help you explore how to deal with the consequences of climate change in a beneficial way and that you can go through at your own pace. For example, you could take a week per topic to watch the lecture, practice the meditation (daily) and read the accompanying text. Each component consists of:
- A 32 to 36 minute video lecture by Bhikkhu Anālayo with automatically generated subtitles in Dutch and English;
- A guided meditation;
- Text fragments from the book Dealing consciously with climate change, carefully chosen to match the theme of the component.
What to expect?
You will practice, among other things, mindfulness, recognizing habit patterns in your own mind and developing a compassionate intention to do no harm.
This approach creates mental clarity, allowing you to face the consequences of climate change with greater balance and inner stability.
From there you can clearer see which actions are appropriate for the well-being of yourself, the earth and others around you.
