Mindful Eating
Ciska Matthews
We sometimes eat too much – or too little – or too irregularly. Sometimes we would like to eat healthier, or worry less about it! Everyone has their own challenges with nutrition. You can also apply Buddhist insights to this; that's what we're going to do in this workshop.
With mindful eating we gain insight into our inner motivations. We distinguish the 'seven hungers': the impulses that guide us. Mindful eating here does not so much mean paying attention to what you eat, but mainly to why you eat: your own different desires. There is no right or wrong. But by making these aware you gain more clarity and you don't have to live as much by your habits and impulses.
We will work with meditations, increasing body awareness and surprising, playful exercises.
Based on the method of doctor and Zen teacher Jan Chozen Bays, author of the book 'Mindful Eating'.
