Discover the richness of mindful aging and 30NOW Next
Hopefully you started the new year mindfully and compassionately! 30NOW we organized our first online city retreat, in which 75 participants practiced integrating mindfulness into daily life. Being together as a Sangha 30NOW was experienced as very supportive.
We are looking forward to the launch of 30NOW Next: a meditation community for the new generation (18-32 years). The first online meeting will take place next Wednesday. Do you want to support this initiative? Share this link in your network: 30NOW.nl/Next of 30NOWNext.nl
In this newsletter we will also share the workshop Walking Meditation by Kasper Meulesteen on Sunday 19 January, from 13.00:15.30 to 10.00:11.30. This year Franca Warmenhoven will also be offering the live course 'Mindful aging'. The course will take place on Friday morning from 21:XNUMX to XNUMX:XNUMX and will start on XNUMX February.
Sincerely,
Dirk & Joost

Mindful Aging – Live Course
We all grow older, but how can you experience this process consciously and joyfully? In this six-week Live Course, we dive into the challenges and inspiration of growing older. Discover how to slow down, reflect, and grow with who you are becoming.
This course consists of six weeks in which every Friday from 10.00:11.30 to XNUMX:XNUMX a live session takes place. During the sessions we do exercises, meditations and there is room for exchange with the group. After each live session you get direct access to additional material, such as:
- One or two guided meditations (about 30 minutes)
- Suggestions for reflection and individual practice
The live sessions are interactive, but the non-interactive parts (such as the guided meditations) can be watched later at a time that suits you. This allows you to participate flexibly in the course.
During the course you can share experiences with group members and contact the supervisor via the course homepage. This creates a safe and inspiring group dynamic, also outside the live sessions.
Do you want to discover what is important in this phase of your life? Register and experience the richness and wisdom of growing older together with others.

Walking meditation – Workshop (Sunday afternoon)
This workshop offers an introduction to walking meditation, a meditative practice from Buddhist traditions that integrates attention and awareness with movement. After an introduction to the background and application of walking meditation in daily life, two sessions follow in which participants practice this themselves. The day ends with a moment of reflection.
The workshop is led by Kasper Meulesteen, an expert in Buddhist walking meditation, and is suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators. It offers a chance to relax, slow down and be consciously in motion.
📅 Start: Sunday January 19, 2025, 13:00 PM–15:30 PM
ℹ️ Registration is possible until Sunday 12:00

Directions at 30NOW
At 30NOW we want to make meditation accessible and meaningful for everyone, no matter where you are on your path. The three directions were developed to support the diversity of our community and to meet different needs and stages of life. Here is why they exist:
???? 30NOW Next: For a new generation
We live in a rapidly changing world in which young people are increasingly looking for peace, direction and meaning. 30NOW Next is specifically for the new generation, with weekly meditations and inspiration that connect with their world. This pillar helps young people get to know meditation and mindfulness in an accessible and contemporary way.
🧘 Dharma Deepening: For deepening your path
Many people not only want to meditate, but also want to discover the deeper layers of meditation and Buddhist wisdom. Dharma Deepening offers a daily structure with meditations and inspiration that connect with the age-old philosophy. This pillar supports you in deepening your personal practice and finding direction in your spiritual path.
🕊️ Mindfulness Moment: To support your exercise
Mindfulness is becoming more and more accepted, but many people struggle to maintain their practice in daily life. Mindfulness Moment offers a weekly moment of rest, especially for people who have ever followed a training and want to refresh their attention and balance. This pillar helps to keep mindfulness alive, regardless of your experience or background.
A place for everyone
The three directions are there to serve different needs while simultaneously reinforcing each other. Whether you are a curious beginner, a practitioner seeking depth, or someone who wants to embed mindfulness in daily life – 30NOW offers a place where you are welcome and can grow.

Live Teaching by Bhante Sujato: Breathing Mindfully
Mindfulness of breathing was the meditation that the Buddha practiced under the Bodhi tree and remained his favorite method even after his enlightenment. This meditation therefore has always had a special status as the royal path to Nibbana.
The main source for this is the Ānāpānasati Sutta in the Theravāda Majjhima Nikāya. By placing mindfulness in its historical context, involving relevant texts and understanding the historical evolution of the traditions, we arrive at a richer and more nuanced view of mindfulness. This not only provides a greater appreciation for our tradition, but also a more authentic and useful framework for our practice.
Bhante Sujato is an Australian Buddhist monk in the Thai Forest Tradition. He was abbot of the Santi Forest Monastery in New South Wales for 10 years. A Pali scholar and respected meditation teacher, Bhante Sujato combines humor, compassion, and deep knowledge in his teachings.
He is also the founder of SuttaCentral, a platform that makes early Buddhist texts accessible in their original language and offers modern translations. Between 2015 and 2018 he completed an English translation of the four Pali Nikayas, available on SuttaCentral.
(This evening will be held in English. Live subtitles will also be available for this live lecture.)
