Vitality, Compassion & Mindfulness – What nourishes you?

,

In the previous newsletter we introduced the three directions of 30NOW: Dharma Deepening, Mindfulness Moment and 30NOW Next.

Dharma Deepening includes the familiar morning and evening meditations, as well as the Sunday evening lecture. The young adult meditation group 30NOW Next has now started and has already had two valuable meetings in a personal, connecting atmosphere.

Last Tuesday, the first Mindfulness Moment session (20.00:20.30-XNUMX:XNUMX) took place under the guidance of Guido Scholte. This weekly moment is accessible to both beginners and experienced practitioners. Both initiatives lower the threshold to meditation and help reach new target groups.

Thanks for sharing 30NOW with family, friends and acquaintances – together we make meditation accessible to everyone!

In this newsletter we would like to highlight the Live Course 'Compassion for all AGES' and 'Mindful aging'. This edition, both courses will take place in the morning, so that they are accessible to a wider audience.

Sincerely,
Dirk & Joost

Compassion for all AGES –
Live Course

The world seems to be in crisis: climate change, war, pandemics, growing uncertainty and stress. How do we create a liveable future? People can be both destructive and compassionate. If we want a sustainable society, we must put well-being above prosperity and serve nature instead of exploiting it. This requires bringing out the best in ourselves.

Together with Frits Koster I developed a compassion training as a follow-up to mindfulness, with positive reactions worldwide. Now I offer via 30NOW, for the fourth time, the six-week live course 'Compassion for all AGES'. Lighter in design, accessible to everyone and tailored to the challenges of today.

How can we deepen compassion and deal with ourselves, each other and the earth in a healthier way? We are inspired by ancient wisdom and modern science, nature, art and culture. The course is for all ages and backgrounds, because learning and growing never stops.

📅 Starts: February 28, 2025

🎥 New course material every week on Friday (lecture + meditation)

💻 Live sessions on Tuesdays (March 4 – April 8) from 9.30:11.30am to XNUMX:XNUMXam

30NOW Next has launched! Although I have always felt at homeAfter the first two sessions I feel a lot of gratitude and enthusiasm to 30NOW Next to start together. In my own environment I don't know many people in the same phase of life who meditate. That we can come together with groups of practitioners from all over the country feels special.

Mindful Aging – February 21

Growing older is inevitable, but how we deal with it makes all the difference. While it brings physical and social changes, it also offers opportunities for wisdom, reflection and growth. How can we grow older consciously and openly?

In this six-week online course we explore this together through meditation, reflection and exchange. We delve into the challenges and richness of growing older, with space to share experiences.

📅 Starts: February 21, 2025

🗓 Weekly live sessions on Friday morning (10:00 – 11:30)

🎥 Guided exercises and reflection assignments available after each session

Year group 'Lust for Life' – February 23

In this year group we practice ten heart qualities, such as mindfulness, gratitude and compassion. In Buddhism, wisdom and compassion are the two wings of spiritual growth - both are necessary to progress.

The training is based on Awakening Joy by James Baraz and offers an in-depth exploration of Buddhist Psychology. During 11 months you will come together with a motivated group to meditate, share experiences and discover new themes.

📅 Starts: Sunday, February 23, 2025

🗓 Monthly live sessions on Sunday morning (10:00 – 12:00)

💬 Extra meetings on Thursday evenings (20:00 PM – 21:15 PM)

Viewing tips

30NOW Next has started! Although I have always felt at home in meditation groups where most participants were over 50 years old, I noticed that it was really nice to be able to meditate together with a group of peers. I also really enjoyed being able to share my passion for Zen by leading a session and that this was well received.

Live tips

📅 Tuesday February 4th

🕙 20:00 – 20:30

🧘‍♀️ Live Meditation with Charlene Illidge

Meditative movement – doing in the being mode

With attention to the body and an open curious attitude, we move. We do accessible exercises.

Take care of yourself by respecting your boundaries. If an exercise doesn’t feel right, do it your way or don’t do it at all. It’s about the process, not the results. We practice mindfulness of all experiences: physical, emotional, and mental. With the intention to return to the physical experience of the exercise each time.

Wear clothes that you feel comfortable in and that you can move in easily. And make sure you have some space around you. It is enough if you can spread your arms and take a step back.

📅 Sunday February 16

🕗 20:00 – 21:15

Sangha Live with Stef Lauwers & Ciska Matthes

What do you feed yourself with? The wise distinction.

As we continue to meditate and practice Buddhism, we may notice that our interests and needs shift. We may feel less inclined to go on certain outings and need more time to be alone. Or we may leave certain reading material, TV programs, and even people behind us. We notice that not everything we did is (anymore) supportive of our spiritual path and discover new paths.

We are going to talk about the question: what do you feed yourself with? What is wisdom and what dilemmas do we encounter? How do we deal with, for example, (the expectations of) family, work, social media and world news?

Sangha Live sessions are interactive gatherings where participants can see each other and engage in conversation. These sessions are exclusively accessible to members with a Membership.
