'Buddhist Sound'

We have joined 'Buddhist Sound', a partnership with De Boeddhistische Blik | KRO-NCRV, Bodhi and Maitreya Institute (Maitreya publisher). Every quarter we create offer based on a common theme. In this way we want to make the Buddhist sound more prominent in the public debate.

November – December: 'Crisis as an opportunity'

In November and December the theme is 'Crisis as an opportunity'. We live in a challenging time. For many of us, the current way of life is difficult and sometimes even unsustainable. Humanity as a whole is at a crossroads; do we continue on the old familiar, but for many unlucky, road – or do we take a new path? How do you distance yourself from that which is comfortable and familiar? And what will that other interpretation be?
It can also chafe in our personal environment and sometimes the need arises to let go and explore new paths. A crisis often also offers opportunities. What does a wise and compassionate life mean today? What should we do to give our consciousness new insights and how can these help reshape our lives?
Go to 30now.nl/buddhist-sound and watch the first scheduled live sessions and articles on this important theme.

live tip

In the context of the theme 'Crisis as an opportunity' starts Erik van den Brink on Sunday 30 October, 20.00 – 21.15, with the lecture: 'Samenredheden'.

Mindfulness and self-compassion training has mushroomed to help people become more resilient and self-reliant in an increasingly stressful world. It was often assumed that these training courses automatically lead to better looking after each other and creating a healthier society. However, the stress production only increased and there is a crisis-like atmosphere in more and more areas of our existence. Increasingly, the call to get off the meditation cushion is heard and terms such as 'social' or 'ecological' mindfulness are used. How can we recognize not only our unhealthy individual patterns, but also the harmful collective patterns that are pushing the Earth to the brink of collapse? How do we move from self-reliant to collaborative? What does it mean to live truly compassionately? Do not expect ready-made answers in this lecture. It is already a start to dwell on the questions, with an exercise and reflection.
