In our 30NOW we make, during the Live Courses and Live Sangha evenings, using Zoom Meetings.
At the daily Live Meditations and Live Lectures on Sunday, we use Zoom Webinar. The explanation below is about Zoom Meetings and therefore relates to the Live Courses and Sangha Live evenings.

What is Zoom Meetings

Zoom Meetings is a video platform that makes it possible to organize online meetings where participants can see and hear each other live.

  • To participate in a Zoom Meetings you need an internet connection and a computer or mobile device.
  • You install the Zoom application (once only) via zoom.us/download.
  • Joining then goes through a unique meeting URL or meeting ID.
You will receive this from 30NOW by email and is also visible on the Week or Month pages of the Live Course.
  • You can then turn on your audio and video yourself and send chat messages.

Video guide to participation

A handy video manual on how to participate in a (Live) Zoom meeting can be found below.

Using “Reactions” or “Reactions”

During a Zoom meeting, participants can use reactions by clicking on the “Reactions” icon in the bottom bar. This opens a pop-up menu with different emoticons to select. After selecting an emoticon, it will be displayed on the participant's screen and visible to the facilitator and other participants of the live session. Reactions can be used to communicate quickly and non-disruptively with other participants during the live session, for example to indicate that you would like to respond by saying something.

Test beforehand

Before participating in a Zoom Meeting, it can be nice to gain some experience with Zoom Meetings. For this you can:

  • Join the next Zoom Meetings test session available 24/7 at https://zoom.us/test
  • In Zoom you can test your sound and microphone in settings:
    • Click the sound icon in the bottom left corner of the Zoom application.
    • Select “Test Speaker and Microphone” from the menu.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to test the audio and microphone.
    • If the test is successful, you should be able to hear what you are saying through the speaker and the sound level of your microphone should be displayed.
  • In addition, all live sessions are opened for participation fifteen minutes before the start so that you can test your image and sound.

General technical tips

When participating in a Zoom Meeting, you should pay attention to the following:

  1. Stable internet connection: Make sure you have a stable and fast internet connection to participate in the Zoom Meeting without interruption.
  2. Working camera and microphone: Make sure your camera and microphone are working properly and that you are clearly visible/audible to other participants. Do you have doubts? Then test your image and sound beforehand. See 'Pre-testing' above.
  3. Up-to-date: Make sure your Zoom application is up-to-date. You can download and install the latest version from zoom.us/download

What is DNS Cache

DNS cache is like a phone book for the internet. It keeps track of websites and their associated IP addresses so that your computer can quickly find the website you want to visit. Sometimes the cached information can become outdated, which can cause problems when trying to access certain websites. For example, if a website's IP address changes, your computer may still try to connect to the old IP address, preventing the website from loading.

Clearing the DNS cache clears out all old information and allows your computer to get the most up-to-date information from the Internet. This can help resolve issues such as not being able to access a particular website or redirecting to the wrong page.

In summary, clearing the DNS cache can help resolve Internet connectivity issues by clearing old information and renewing the IP addresses of the cached websites. This way your computer can connect to the correct IP address and load the desired website.

Options for deleting DNS cache

You can delete the DNS cache on individual devices with a few short steps. If you find these (below) steps too complex, you can choose to simply unplug your internet modem for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in. This will also refresh the DNS.
Keep in mind that it can take up to 5 minutes before your internet connection is available again.

How to delete DNS cache on an individual device works as follows

On Windows:
– Open the command prompt/command prompt application as an administrator.
– Type the command “ipconfig /flushdns” and press Enter.
– You should see a message that says “The DNS resolver cache has been flushed” or “Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.”

On Mac:
– Open the 'Terminal' application.
– Type the command “sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder” and press Enter.
– You will be prompted to enter your administrator password.
– After entering the password, the DNS cache will be flushed.

On iPhone or iPad:
On an iPhone or iPad it is not possible to delete the DNS cache directly like on a computer. This is because the DNS cache on an iPhone is managed by the operating system and is not directly accessible to users. But there are a number of steps you can take to “reset” the DNS cache on an iPhone:

  1. Go to the “Settings” app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap on “General”
  3. Tap on “WiFi”
  4. Tap the “i” icon next to the connected Wi-Fi network
  5. Tap on “Forget this network”
  6. Reconnect to the Wi-Fi network and use a new DNS server.

By following the steps above, the iPhone or iPad will reconnect to the WiFi network and set up a new DNS server, removing the old DNS information from the cache. This can help with internet connectivity issues or loading specific websites.
Keep in mind that this solution only applies to problems with WiFi connections.

Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinar are both Zoom products, but with different purposes and functions. Below are the main differences between these two products:

  1. Purpose: Zoom Meetings is intended for group interaction where everyone can turn on their camera and microphone. Zoom Webinar is designed as a facilitator/speaker for a large group of participants to present with image and sound, whereby participants only respond via chat (and therefore cannot hear or see other participants).
  2. Participants: In Zoom Meetings the participants can actively participate by speaking and chatting, while in Zoom Webinar the participants act as spectators and can only watch, listen and chat.
  3. Presentations: With Zoom Meetings, multiple participants can come into view, while with Zoom Webinar there is only one facilitator/speaker and the rest of the participants only act as audience.
  4. Features: Zoom Meetings offers features such as screen sharing, recording, chat, and virtual backgrounds, while Zoom Webinar has additional features such as Q&A sessions and pre-participation questions.
  5. Security: Both products offer security features such as password protection and password protection, but Zoom Webinar offers additional security options such as participant registration and authentication.

In general, Zoom Meetings is aimed at smaller groups, while Zoom Webinar is aimed at larger groups and public presentations.

In many cases you can solve it yourself by deleting your browser cache.
The browser cache is the temporary storage space on your computer where your browser stores information about websites you visit, such as images and text. This allows your browser to load the website faster on your next visit, because it does not have to download all the information again.
However, sometimes the cache can become outdated or corrupted and cause problems when trying to access certain websites. In this case, you need to clear your browser's cache.

Below are some general easy steps to clear your browser's cache.
If you prefer an explanation specific to your browser. Then follow the steps this page >

  • Open your browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.).
  • Click the three-dot icon or menu button in the top-right corner of the browser
  • Select “Settings” or “Preferences” from the menu.
  • Search for “Privacy” or “Privacy and Security”
  • Look for “Clear browsing data” or “Clear cache”
  • Select the time range for which you want to clear the cache (e.g. last hour, last day, always).
  • Make sure the “Cached images and files” option is selected.
  • Click on “Clear Data” or “Clear Cache”

When you have cleared the cache, the problem is often solved. If not, send a message to Team Support.
