In this episode, Joost van den Heuvel Rijnders talks to Leni Cellini about a subject that directly affects many of us: the impact of the smartphone on our daily lives. The focus is on the challenges of screen time, the negative impact it has on our emotions and the potential distraction it poses.
A smartphone can be very addictive. The many social media apps in particular prove difficult to resist. Even if you practice mindfulness, it can be quite a challenge to manage screen time moderately.
Leni has been practicing digital detoxing for years and has experienced how healing it can be. She tells us how the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh in particular supports her in becoming less drawn into her screen and more at home in the present moment.
How can mindfulness help us be more aware of screen time? How can we become freer from the constant urge to be online? And what is the basis of our addiction? We go into that in more detail in this episode. We invite you to think about how the practice of mindfulness and meditation can support you to experience more freedom and balance.
