Practising with difficult emotions

Chris Cullen

For many people, the current lockdown and covid-19 crisis are understandably intensifying difficult emotions such as fear, anxiety, loneliness, anger and grief. During this session we will explore ways of working with such emotions using practices and perspectives derived from the Buddha’s teachings. Some of these are summarised in the acronym “G.R.A.I.N.” [“Grounding, Recognising, Allowing, Investigating, Non-identifying”].

We will consider ways of practising with emotions, moods and mental states so as to hold them with greater kindness and compassion such that they contribute to liberating insights and understandings. Chris Cullen has been teaching insight meditation retreats since 2008.
