Those who are sick are also healthy – my father's optimistic deathbed
Ciska Matthews
My father Henk, who was a philosopher, managed to take his terminal diagnosis lightheartedly at the time. He was determined to approach his death with an open mind and unproblematically. His special attitude made the whole process easier not only for himself, but also for those around him.
This evening I would like to tell you about him and his last days. His example can be an inspiration to deal with the inevitable without complaints and with full acceptance.
The lecture ties in with the theme 'living with dying'.
Thank you, Ciska, for giving this talk about your experience. Very valuable and truly an ode. Sincerely
Thank you Yvonne, that is nice and nice to hear; indeed an ode – through which my father managed to inspire others posthumously, it seems….
What a beautiful lecture, Ciska. I will also pass it on to the participants of the Living with Dying course 30Now.
And warm regards!
Thank you dear Irène, very nice to hear!
In my book I also wrote about my father's last weeks, but here I wanted to emphasize more how crucial his acceptance and lightness were, in the hope that it will offer people inspiration.
Lots of love and gassho!
